 Skype is an Internet based service which allows you to communicate with other Skype users for free and with anyone for a small fee. In its simplest form it’s just another Instant Message client but it will also allow you to communicate using a technology called VoIP (Voice over IP). This allows you to plug a headset or VoIP handset into your computer and use its Internet connection to make voice calls. If you’re calling another Skype user it’s as easy as selecting them from your contact list and clicking on dial.
